★ Kali Yuga Kali Yuga, literally the “Age of Kali”—the age of quarrel, hypocrisy, and sin—is, according to Hindu scriptures , the last of the four cosmic ages (yugas). The other three are Satya Yuga (the Golden Age), Treta Yuga , and Dvapara Yuga . Who is Kali? Kali is described as “an invisible negative force created by Lord Brahma .” The effects of Kali on the world are: Decline of truth, righteousness, and justice. Humans becoming selfish, materialistic, and pleasure-seeking. Decline of religious practice, honesty, and compassion. The growth of falsehood, deceit, and corruption in society. According to the Puraṇas : Kali’s father was Krodha (Anger). His mother was Hiṁsa (Violence). His grandfather was Dambha (Arrogance/Vanity). His great-grandfather was Adharma (Unrighteousness), whose wife was Mithya (Falsehood). Thus, Kali is the great-grandson of Adharma and Mithya.
