★ Kali Yuga Kali Yuga, literally the “Age of Kali”—the age of quarrel, hypocrisy, and sin—is, according to Hindu scriptures , the last of the four cosmic ages (yugas). The other three are Satya Yuga (the Golden Age), Treta Yuga , and Dvapara Yuga . Beginning of Kali Yuga According to the Viṣṇu Puraṇa (as composed by Vyasa ), Kali Yuga began the moment Lord Sri Kṛṣṇa departed from Earth and ascended to the higher realms at Prabhasa-tirtha . Duration of Kali Yuga In Kali Yuga, the maximum human lifespan is 100 years, yet most do not live this long, and many perish young. Similarly, the ages themselves may not always continue for their full cosmic span; just as Treta and Dvapara Yugas did not reach their maximum duration.
